For our bodies to get the optimum benefit out of food, the intestinal tract must be healthy. Our bodies have 500 species of beneficial bacteria in the digestive tract. Of these bacteria, Lactobacillus – a probiotic - is the most beneficial to us. Lactobacillus is contained in the supplement Laterosporus.

A probiotic assists with the provision of the proper balance of bacteria which in turn promote health of the intestines and vagina. We need the healthy bacteria in the gastro-intestinal tract to fight digestive disorders (eg. flatulence, diarrhoea, constipation) and to ensure proper absorption of all nutrients. Another benefit of probiotics is, the enhancement of intestinal immunity.

Additionally, Laterosporus, because of the probiotic, manufacture natural antibiotics which help to guard against harmful bacteria and are most effective in the fight against infection (eg. vaginal yeast infection). Vaginal yeast infections are caused by the fungus Candida Albicans which lives on the skin and inside the body (eg. mouth, throat, gastrointestinal tract and vagina). The infection is caused when the Candida Albicans multiply which may present symptoms such as itching, burning pain when urinating and painful intercourse.

Studies have also indicated that the Lactobacillus bacteria may absorb cholesterol in the intestines which will lower the blood cholesterol levels before it gets to the arteries and cause damage.
